Athletes of the Week - 04/04/2005
Gary Asbach (Grand Island, NY/Grand
Island) of the men's track and field team swept the
horizontal jumps at the Ohio Invitational. Asbach won the long jump at 22-1.50 (6.74m) and took the triple jump
competition at 44-12.50 (14.44m). He also anchored UB's 400-meter relay team to a third-place finish and was
the Bulls' top finisher in the 100-meters in 11.76 to place sixth.
Ann Magur (Endicott,
NY/Union-Endicott/Connecticut) of the women's softball team went 4-for-6
in a doubleheader split at Eastern Michigan, including a 4-for-4 effort in the nightcap, as the Bulls defeated
the Eagles, 9-0. In the nightcap, she went 4-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and five RBIs. In five MAC
games so far this season, she is hitting .357 (5-for-14) with six RBIs and a .500 slugging percentage.
