Athletes of the Week - 03/29/2004
 Steve Esler (Rochester, NY/Aquinas
Institute) of the men's track and field team won the decathlon
title at the Florida Relays, setting a school record with 7,019 points, winning the event by more than 400 points
over the second-place finisher. The point total broke Matt Streng's 1999 record of 6,662 points and
provisionally qualified the senior for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June.
Stacey Evans (Collinsville,
IL/Triad) of the softball team had a 2-1 record on the week and allowed
no earned runs in three complete games while striking out 20 and allowing just five walks. Evans, now 4-6 for
the season, pitched a one-hitter in a 3-0 shutout of Canisius on Thursday and pitched two four-hitters
against Miami, a 2-1 win on Saturday and a 1-0 loss on Sunday, lowering her season ERA to 2.13.
