Athletes of the Week - 03/26/2007
Reggie Rucker (Rochester, NY/Edison Tech) of the track and field team broke the UB record in the men's 110-meter hurdles at the Wake Forest Open. Rucker turned in a time of 14.25 seconds to break the old mark of 14.31 set in 2005 by Todd Joki (Saratoga Springs, NY/Schuylerville). Rucker finished tied for fourth overall, winning his heat, and qualified for the NCAA East Regional Championships in May.
Miglena Nenova (Rousse, Bulgaria/Eurointellect) of the women's tennis team went a perfect 4-0 in singles and doubles play as the Bulls opened the Mid-American Conference schedule with a pair of road victories. Nenova moved back into the number one singles spot and scored wins over Ball State's Sophie Quist and Miami's Katrina Lomidze. She is now 14-3 this season in singles play and 18-5 in doubles.
