ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Octavian Stane (Toronto, Ontario/Leaside) of the men's tennis team went undefeated over the weekend with a pair of singles wins and a doubles victory with partner Nikesh Singh Panthlia (George Town, Malaysia/BMK Penang Free School). Stane, who has won four straight singles matches since moving to the number three spot, needed three sets to defeat Mateusz Wodzinski of Robert Morris, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. He also downed Duquesne's Zach Skorupka in straight sets.

Andreea Novaceanu (Bucharest, Romania/Emil Racovita) of the women's tennis team won both her singles and doubles matches as the Bulls defeated Northern Illinois, 7-0, to open the Mid-American Conference schedule. Novaceanu paired with Tina Jacob (Singapore/Raffles JC) to score a doubles win in the number three match. She also defeated NIU's Nao Umemura, 6-3, 6-1, in the number one singles match. Novaceanu is 15-7 in singles play this season and 6-4 when playing first singles.
