Athletes of the Week - 03/11/2002
 Kyle Cerminara (Lewiston,
NY/Lewiston-Porter) of the wrestling team won the 197-pound
weight class at the Mid-American Conference Championships and earned an automatic qualification to the
NCAA Championships in Albany, NY on March 21-23. Cerminara, a freshman, scored a 3-1 win over Travis Kraft
of Eastern Michigan in the semifinals and won the title with a 4-1 victory over Ohio's Joel Weimer. He was 3-0
in the championship meet and completed a perfect 5-0 MAC regular season.
Julie Hibner (Salem, OR/South
Salem) of the women's softball team led the Bulls with a .615
batting average at the National Invitational Tournament in San Jose, CA, recording at least one hit in each of the
Bulls' five games. The freshman catcher recorded her first career RBI on a seventh-inning double as the Bulls went
on to defeat San Jose State in extra innings. She was also 2-for-4 against nationally-ranked Arizona State
and recorded 13 putouts and six assists in the five-game tournament.
