Athletes of the Week - 03/06/2000Shawn Kegel (Wantaugh, NY/MacArthur) of the wrestling team earned a trip as a wild card selection to the NCAA Wrestling Championships in St. Louis March 16-18. He finished in second place at the 133 pound weight class at the Mid-American Conference Championships at UB. Kegel was the lone Bull to reach the championship finals. Kelly Malone (Waterford, MI/Waterford Kettering) of the softball
team hit two home runs and collected six runs batted in as UB swept a pair of
games from St. Michael's, 9-4 and 13-1. It was the Bulls first softball action
since the program was discontinued after the 1986 season. With her two homers,
Malone, in just one day, moved to second place on the UB season and career home
run record lists. |
