Athletes of the Week - 02/28/2005
David Amaro (Endicott,
NY/Union-Endicott) of the baseball team went 8-for-13 (.615) with a
grand slam and three doubles against a pair of pro prospect pitchers in UB's season-opening series at Kentucky.
The junior catcher scored seven runs in the three-game series against the Wildcats.
Jennefer Brankovsky (Toronto, Ontario/Don Mills
CI) of the women's swimming and diving
team won all three of her races in NCAA "B" cut times and was named the MAC's Swimmer of the Year and
Outstanding Senior at the league championship meet. She broke her own school record to win the 200
breaststroke (2:17.26) and defended her MAC title to win the 400 individual medley (4:22.41). She also won the 200
individual medley (2:02.94) for the second time in three years.
