Athletes of the Week - 02/26/2001

Photo of Kamau Halim

Kamau Halim (Medina, NY/Medina) of the men's track and field team won his second overall and first MAC indoor title taking the triple jump with a Central Michigan fieldhouse record leap of 50-3.25 (15.32m). He was second in the event last season. Halim also won the 2000 MAC outdoor triple jump title.

 

 

Photo of Jason Robinson Jason Robinson (Seattle, WA/Curtis) of the men's basketball team scored 19 points to lead the Bulls to a 66-61 overtime win over Miami. Robinson also scored 20 points in the Bulls' 86-76 loss at Ohio and is now averaging 16.3 points in his last six games.

 

 

Photo of Sarah Fletcher Sarah Fletcher (Ridgeway, Ontario/Ridgeway-Crystal Beach) of the women's track and field team won her second straight 20-lb. weight throw title at the MAC Championships with a school record toss of 59-1.5 (18.02m) breaking the school record of 58-6.5 (17.84m) she set last week. She is now a three-time MAC champion winning the outdoor hammer title in 2000 as well as the weight throws in 2000 and 2001.

 

Photo of Mari McClure Mari McClure (Rochester Hills, MI/Rochester Adams) of the women's basketball team averaged 24.5 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists in two wins and hit 53.6% of her shots from the floor (15-of-28) and 88.9% of her shots from the foul line (16-of-18). She had 31 points against Bowling Green and a career- high nine assists against Ohio.
