Athletes of the Week - 02/25/2008
Nikesh Singh Panthlia (George Town, Malaysia/BMK Penang Free School) of the men's tennis team won both his singles matches against Manhattan and Toledo and has now won eight straight in singles play. His 56 career wins has now moved the senior into fourth place on UB's all-time victories list. He is 18-4 in singles play this season.
Andrea Lehner (Lockport, NY/Orchard Park) of the women's swim team won the 100-yard backstroke to become the first UB swimmer to earn a MAC championship since Jennefer Brankovsky’s three-victory performance in 2005. Lehner lowered her school record to 55.74, passing two swimmers in the final 10 yards. She also reached the championship finals of the 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard backstroke, finishing second and third, respectively, setting new school records in both. She finished with four individual school records and was part of three of UB’s four record setting relay teams.
