Athletes of the Week - 02/24/2003

Kyle Cerminara (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston-Porter) of the wrestling team went 3-0 in UB's Mid-American Conference matches over the weekend. A sophomore, Cerminara improved to 30-9 for the season, including an 11-2 dual-meet record and 4-1 mark against MAC opponents. Cerminara gave the Bulls the 19-16 win over Eastern Michigan when he defeated Travis Craft in the 197-pound match to break a 16-16 deadlock.

 

Kate McMeeken-Ruscoe (Nelson, New Zealand/Hawaii) of the women's basketball team scored a career-high 30 points in Buffalo's win at Ohio, making her the first Bull to reach the 30-point mark in a game since 2001. The senior guard followed that performance with 22 points at Central Michigan. She has a team-high seven 20+ scoring performances on the year and has scored in double figures in 19 of 24 games this season.
