Athletes of the Week - 02/19/2001
Robert Brown (Oak Park, MI/Oak Park) of the
men's basketball team scored 21 points and pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds
in leading the Bulls to a 68-51 win over Eastern Michigan breaking UB's 13-game
losing streak. Brown also added eight points and nine rebounds in a 59-56 loss
to Ball State. Brown leads the Bulls in both scoring at 15.4 points and rebounding
at 6.4 boards per contest.
Sarah Fletcher (Ridgeway, Ontario/Ridgeway-Crystal Beach) of the
women's track and field team provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships
winning the 20-lb. weight throw with a school-record toss of 58-10 (17.93m) at
the Cornell Kane Invitational. Fletcher, the defending MAC champion in the
indoor weight throw, also has the best throw in the conference this season.
