Athletes of the Week - 02/14/2005
Jake Blowers (Johnstown,
NY/Broadalbin-Perth) of the wrestling team scored a pin 2:03
into the match against Kent State's Nick Brenner to help propel the Bulls to an 18-16 win over their MAC rivals.
Blowers, a redshirt sophomore, cracked the starting lineup for the first time in his three-year career earlier this season
and has compiled a 13-13 record.
Jenny Koeppel (Amherst,
NY/Amherst) of the women's track and field team earned the NCAA
provisional standard in the 3,000-meter run at the Penn State Sykes-Sabock Challenge. The senior placed third in
a very competitive field, and her time of 9:34.55 also established a new school record and personal best.
The mark is also the fastest in the Mid-American Conference this season.
