Athletes of the Week - 02/12/2007
Reggie Rucker (Rochester, NY/Edison Tech) of the men's track and field team set his second hurdles record of the year with a 7.33 clocking in the 55-meter hurdles to finish second at Penn State's Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup. Rucker broke Erich Smithson's record of 7.73 at the meet. He also set UB's 60-meter hurdles record earlier in the season and improved on his NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the event.
Miglena Nenova (Rousse, Bulgaria/Eurointellect) of the women's tennis team stepped into the number one spot in singles play and was instrumental in UB's win over Syracuse as she scored a 6-3, 6-0 win over Olga Votavova, ranked 28th in the East. Nenova is 8-2 overall in singles play this season and 4-0 in dual meets. She and Denise Harijanto (Jakarta, Indonesia) also lead the team in doubles play with a 12-4 record.
