Athletes of the Week - 02/05/2001
Kamau Halim (Medina, NY/Medina) of the men's indoor track and field team broke his own record in the winning the triple jump at the Eastern Michigan Invitational. Halim jumped 49-0.25 (14.94m) breaking his old mark of 48-10 (14.88m) set in 1999. Halim also holds the Bulls' outdoor records in the long and triple jumps.
Mari McClure (Rochester Hills, MI/Rochester Adams) of the women's
basketball team led the Bulls with 18 points, including 12 in the final 7:24,
pacing the Bulls to a 62-49 Mid-American Conference win at Marshall. McClure,
a senior guard, also notched her 1,000th career point in the January 31 contest
against Northern Illinois and now has 1,023 placing her 11th on the all-time
scoring list.
