Jessica Ballard (Hilton Head, SC/Hilton Head) of the women's swimming and diving team won a total of three individual and two relay races in UB's victories over St. Bonaventure and Bowling Green. In the Bowling Green meet, Ballard posted a season-best time in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.33) and also scored a team and season-best time in the 400-yard individual medley (4:29.13). The Bulls have won seven straight meets, including their last four against Mid-American Conference opposition.
Jimmy Hamel (Natick, MA/Natick) of the wrestling team scored a 4-3 overtime victory over Ohio's Erik Schuth, ranked 12th nationally at 197 pounds. In the match's "sudden victory" format, Hamel won the match by scoring an escape against Schuth to capture the 4-3 decision. In his last three matches, the junior has wrestled against three opponents ranked in the top 15, winning two contests in overtime. For the season, Hamel is 22-7 overall, including a 10-2 dual-meet record.
