ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Mark Budd (Orrville, OH/Orrville) of the wrestling team wrapped up his first New York State Collegiate Championship by beating Army's Tony Severo, 9-5, in the semifinals and No. 1 seed Matt DeLorenzo of Columbia, 3-1, in the finals in Oneonta. Budd, a redshirt sophomore, claimed his first collegiate tournament championship with the win at 133 pounds and is now 16-14 on the season.

Faith Thompson (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) of the women's track and field team won the weight throw for the second straight week, breaking her own school record and establishing a new Cornell fieldhouse record. The toss of 62-6 (19.05m) also provisionally qualified the senior for the NCAA Championships in March, bettering the standard by more than a half a meter. Thompson also finished second in the shot put at 44-3.50 (13.50m).
