ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Jason Hilliard (Genoa, NY/Southern Cayuga) of the wrestling team claimed the 149-pound title at the New York State Collegiate Championships to help the Bulls to a third-place overall finish. Hilliard went 4-0 in the meet and defeated Columbia's Matt Dunn, 6-4, in the championship match. Hilliard also scored three major decisions on his way to the championship bout. He is now 19-7 overall this season.

Sarah Vance (Lockport, NY/Lockport) of the women's track and field team set the UB and Cornell Field House records with her winning shot put distance of 50-8 (15.44m), breaking Faith Thompson's school record by nearly a foot. Vance also won the 20-pound weight throw with a distance of 58-1.25 (17.71m). The shot put distance is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark while both tosses qualify Vance for March's ECAC Championship.
