Athletes of the Week - 01/14/2002

Darcel Williams (Buffalo, NY/Traditional) of the men's basketball team posted a pair of double-doubles with his 20 points and 18 rebounds in UB's win over Kent State and 22 points with 11 rebounds in UB's loss to Bowling Green. The 18 boards against Kent State were the 10th-most in UB basketball history. Williams was also a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line in the two games. He leads the Bulls in both scoring (17.0) and rebounding (9.0) and is shooting 90.5 percent (38-of-42) at the line.

 

Photo of Kim Kilpela Kim Kilpela (West Bloomfield, MI/West Bloomfield) of the women's basketball team scored a season-high 26 points, including 21 in the second half, in UB's loss at Bowling Green. She also pulled down 13 rebounds and blocked a career-best five shots. In UB's 55-45 victory over Central Michigan, Kilpela scored 12 points and added nine rebounds. In the two games, she averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds and shot 53.8 percent (14-of-26) from the floor. She is currently second on the team with 6.8 rebounds and third at 11.5 points per contest.
