Desi Green (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) of the wrestling team went undefeated in his three matches at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals in Cedar Falls, IA. Green defeated the sixth-ranked wrestler in the nation at 149 pounds, Jason Chamberlain of Boise State, 8-6. In his match against Maryland's Jon Kohler, Green, ranked 20th in his weight class, scored a major decision with a 16-7 win. In his two trips to the National Duals, Green has posted a 5-0 record.
Kristy Woods (Mercer, PA/Grove City) of the women's track and field team established an NCAA provisional qualifying mark with her shot put victory at the season-opening tri-meet against Michigan and Akron. Woods won the event with a throw of 50-0 (15.24m), improving on her top mark of last season by more than a foot. Woods also finished third in the weight throw at 55-2 (16.81m), just three-quarters of an inch off last year’s top mark.
