Successful Students use Tutoring
How Do I Become a Tutor?
| Minimum Qualifications: |
- Knowledge of subject area
- Minimum GPA of 3.3 in subject area
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 overall
|
| In addition, a tutor: |
- Provides individualized or group sessions in areas
of expertise
- Attends training workshops
- Submits documentation to the Tutor Coordinator
- Consistently check email for tutor assignments
- Contacts students as soon as he/she receives a
tutoring assignment
- Completes time sheets and progress reports
- Attends supervision and consultation sessions
- Attends an end of the year exit interview

- Tutors gain professional experience and have the
opportunity for professional growth and development.
- Tutors are paid for their services.
- Tutors have the convenience of setting their own
hours at times suitable to their schedule.
- Tutors may be provided with a reference.

| Application Process: |
| The following must be on file for an
application to be completed and considered. |
- A tutor application located in the Office of Athlete
Academic and Student Services in 169 Alumni Arena
- A letter of recommendation from a UB staff or faculty person.
- A UB official transcript or DARS report documenting all relevant
coursework.
- An interview may be granted if you meet the criteria listed above.
